Self-care has a bad name because cosmetics sellers abused it. In reality it is not a cream, a candle or a wellness weekend, it is maintenance of the body that works.
What the body actually needs
Movement, sleep, pleasant food, contact with your own body. All of this is not a luxury, but basic needs. If you skip any of them for a longer time, the body starts to pay the bill, worse condition, worse mood, worse intimacy.
Twenty minutes a day dedicated exclusively to yourself is not egoism. It is prevention.
Where to start if you have no time
First with what you already do. A shower that lasts a minute longer. A cream you have not applied for a week. A massage oil that someone gave you and is sitting in a drawer. Considered, brief contact with the body.
Then with something the body needed, but you denied it. A relaxing bath with magnesium salts, soft pyjamas, a good lubricant, intimate care that you have not replenished.
