What else comes in the set
Some items are a corset on its own, but a larger share are sets. The most common pairing is corset and thong, followed by three-piece sets and sets with hold-up stockings. Some cuts have detachable suspender straps, others are strapless and stay up through the cut itself. This is normally stated in the product name, so you can choose rather than guess.
Fastening and boning
Most models lace at the back and close at the front with hooks or a zip — lacing lets you adjust the circumference to yourself, hooks make it quick to put on. The boning in the seams is what separates a corset from an ordinary top: it holds the shape and stops the fabric rolling. It is also the reason a corset does not go in the washing machine or the tumble dryer.
Two sizing systems
